We are under construction!
United Indians of Milwaukee Inc. has been a beehive of activity for the past few months. Much needed repairs to our building are finally being addressed.
Thanks to all our volunteers who raised enough money at the Hunters Moon Pow wow to purchase the materials needed to replace our roof. Many of our men have volunteered to do the roof replacement under the direction of Mr. Frank (Cricket) Wade. Those who have been up on the roof braving the elements include Alex Fox, Frank Wade, Randy Boggs, Jim Marino, Mark LeTendre and Mike Terry. Work on the roof is nearing completion because of their efforts. A heartfelt thanks to all those volunteers who helped to raise the funds and those who performed the necessary work on the roof.
Special thanks to Ray Bresette and all others who provided a hot meal for the guys on the roof!
The workforce development program has begun under the direction of Mr. John Cook of MatrixModus and Ms. Grace Chord of MatrixMath. Six to eight young men are currently enrolled in this program. Upon successful completion of this program, these young men will have the skills necessary to be employed in the construction trades. These young men are currently performing renovation work on our building as part of their training.

UIM officers recently approached the Home Depot Corporation to ask them for help with various building renovation and improvement projects. Home Depot is considering UIM as one of their project development programs. Special thanks to Andrew Ormond and Maxwell Bentley of the Home Depot on Holt Ave. for listening to our needs, offering their suggestions and helping us to complete the necessary paperwork.
